Alois Lageder Misto Mare 2025

Alois Lageder has long been the gold standard for biodynamic farming in South Tyrol. Having fully converted all of their own estate vineyards and long-standing partner growers to organic and biodynamic certification, they ran into a noble challenge: more local growers wanted to transition their land to biodynamics and join the Lageder network.
Because organic certification requires a strict three-year conversion period, Lageder needed a creative outlet for these transitional grapes. Misto Mare (meaning “seafood mix” or “mixed sea”) was born as that “incubator” wine. It provides these converting growers with a market while their soils undergo transformation. The name is also a clever historical nod to the ancient marine ocean that covered the Dolomites 200 million years ago, creating the mineral-rich limestone soils that define the region today.
In the glass, it’s a breezy, vibrant, lower-alcohol (11.5% ABV) mountain white with immense charm and serious purpose. It’s light on its feet, wildly drinkable, and a stellar match for crudo, grilled trout, spring vegetables, or soft goat cheeses.
