Andrew Will Involuntary Commitment Red Wine 2022

$24.00

One of the best values we’ve tasted out of the Pacific Northwest this year, the “Involuntary Commitment” project is the brainchild of Will Camarda, the talented hand behind the legendary Andrew Will winery. Born from a harvest so bountiful that the winery simply couldn’t leave the fruit behind, this red blend is essentially Andrew Will’s estate-grown pedigree bottled for your Tuesday night burger.

The 2022 vintage is a classic Washington expression of the Right Bank, leaning heavily on Cabernet Franc (44%), supported by Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (26%). It’s fermented with native yeasts and aged for 11 months in neutral French oak, preserving the purity of the fruit without any heavy-handed wood influence.

On the nose, it’s a total pleasure: think violet candies, lavender, and dark chocolate shavings layered over blackberry preserves. The palate is silky and pliant, showing a vibrant core of red and blue fruits—plums and currants—kept fresh by a persistent juicy acidity. It finishes with a sophisticated edge of graphite and tobacco leaf, with just enough chalky tannin to remind you of its serious vineyard origins.
