Bedrock Wine Co. Old Vine Zinfandel 2023

As usual, Bedrock’s Old Vine Zinfandel is, quite simply, one of the greatest no-brainer values in the shop. The 2023 is a vibrant, site-driven blend featuring berries from some of the most pedigreed dirt in the state. The fruit is sourced from heavy hitters like Sodini, Bedrock, Teldeschi, and Evangelho—all sites with an average vine age of over 80 years.

While it’s labeled Zinfandel, it’s a true field blend in the traditional sense. In addition to the core of Zin, there are dollops of Carignan, Petite Sirah, Grenache, and even rarer gems like Cinsault and Mourvèdre. It’s a snapshot of a vineyard as it was planted a century ago, where diversity was the key to balance.
