This is the latest installment in Bollinger’s “PN” series—an obsessive, site-specific exploration of Pinot Noir. The “VZ” stands for Verzenay, the Grand Cru village providing the backbone of this blend, while “19” points to the 2019 base year.
The Blend: 100% Pinot Noir (Blanc de Noirs).
Principal Cru: Verzenay, supported by fruit from Aÿ, Louvois, and Tauxières.
Base Year: 2019—a year of incredible concentration and heat, balanced by that Verzenay acidity.
Reserve Wines: This is where the Bollinger magic happens. It includes reserve wines dating back to 2009, some aged in magnums under cork.
Dosage: Very low, around 6 grams per liter, keeping the focus on the fruit’s purity.
