Charles Père & Fille, is a domaine that is quietly turning out some of the most compelling values in the region. Based in Nantoux but with prime real estate in the heart of the Côte, Pascal and his daughters, Pauline and Marie, are farming with a level of precision that makes these bottles punch way above their weight class.

Frémiets sits right on the border of Pommard, and you can taste that proximity. While it keeps the classic Volnay silkiness, there’s a bit more structure and “grip” here than you might find in the center of the village. The 2017 vintage is drinking beautifully right now—it was a year that gave us wines with high-toned energy and transparency.

This is “sleeper” Burgundy at its finest—the kind of bottle you buy by the case because it’s drinking beautifully today but has the balance to age gracefully for another decade.
