Château Fombrauge Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2020
$45.00
Château Fombrauge is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Émilion, with its first recorded harvest dating back to 1599. Spanning 58.6 hectares, it is the largest Grand Cru Classé in the appellation, characterized by a complex mosaic of clay-limestone soils and Fronsadais molasses. Under the ownership of Bernard Magrez, the estate has implemented high-precision viticulture, including the use of drones for vigor mapping and entirely manual pigeage to ensure optimal extraction.
The 2020 vintage is a blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates and underwent rigorous double-sorting before being gravity-fed into small wooden and concrete vats. The wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, with 35% being new oak.
