The heart of this blend comes from the legendary Quinta da Roêda, an estate with some of the oldest vines in the Douro. At twenty-plus years of age, the primary grapey-ness of its youth has melted into something much more cerebral.
The tannins have shed their youthful aggression, leaving behind a velvety texture that carries the weight without feeling heavy or syrupy. It’s rich, yes—this is Port, after all—but there’s an underlying firmness and a touch of austerity that keeps it elegant.
