Domaine Faiveley Les Framboisiere Mercurey 2018
$55.00
La Framboisière is a monopole—a vineyard owned entirely by the Faiveley family—and it’s widely considered one of the crown jewels of the Côte Chalonnaise.
The name isn’t just a marketing flourish; framboise means raspberry, and this site is famous for producing Pinot Noir with an unmistakable, crystalline red-fruit character. In the warm, generous 2018 vintage, that signature raspberry note is joined by deeper layers of black cherry and a touch of forest floor.
Faiveley has moved toward a more elegant, accessible style in recent years, and it shows here. You get the structure and mineral tension you’d expect from Mercurey’s limestone soils, but it’s wrapped in velvety tannins that make it remarkably approachable right now. About 20% whole-cluster fermentation adds a savory, spicy lift that keeps the wine’s natural richness in perfect check.
