The 2023 Bourgogne Côte d’Or “Mont Poulain” from Domaine Jeanson-Parigot is a lovely, immediate expression of the vintage. Striking a fine balance between the natural generosity of the 2023 growing season and the classic tension of the Côte d’Or, it opens with a lifted, expressive bouquet of wild strawberries, red cherries, and a touch of dark bramble fruit, underpinned by a faint, stony minerality.

On the palate, the wine delivers a straightforward, bright attack before easing into a more supple, fleshy mid-palate layered with nuances of crunchy wild berries and a hint of savory spice. The tannins are fine-grained and approachable, supported by a refreshing spine of acidity that gives the finish a sense of effortless finesse. While it doesn’t possess the structural heft of the domaine’s communal plots, it offers excellent clarity and early-drinking pleasure. This is a highly successful regional Pinot Noir that punches well above its weight class.
