Enzo Boglietti Barolo Brunate 2016

$90.00

Enzo Boglietti possesses one of the greatest collections of La Morra vineyards of anyone, managing a dazzling array of crus with a boundary-pushing approach that seamlessly blends modern precision with old-school patience—sometimes pushing macerations out to a jaw-dropping 90 days.

Boglietti’s expression of Brunate, which is widely considered one of the grandest of Barolo’s Grand Crus, is one of restraint and sophistication. Straddling the border of La Morra and Barolo, Brunate’s heavier limestone-clay soils give birth to Nebbiolo of immense power, dark fruit profiles, and deeply etched structure, yet it retains that classic La Morra aromatic lift. It’s a site that demands respect, and in a cooler, slow-ripening vintage like 2016, it delivered fruit of breathtaking depth.

This isn’t a Barolo for casual, immediate glugging. True to form for both the cru and the vintage, this is a brawny, deeply structured Nebbiolo built for the long haul. A mere 2,300 bottles were produced of this vintage. While it’s just beginning to show its hand now, it has a long, incredibly rewarding life ahead of it.
If you are looking to add a deep, serious, and intellectually engaging bottle to your cellar from Piedmont’s modern golden era, this is precisely where you want to look. Grab a couple of bottles, hide them in the back of the cellar, and thank us in a decade.
