Garzon Albarino Reserva 2025

Usually, if you want Albariño, you look almost exclusively to the granite-soaked hills of Rías Baixas. But Alejandro Bulgheroni and his team have found a second home for the grape in Maldonado Uruguay, just a few miles from the Atlantic.

The 2025 vintage is zesty, bright, and shot through with a saline streak that makes your mouth water. Because the vineyards sit on some of the oldest ballast soils in the world (weathered granite that’s over two billion years old), you get a mineral depth here that punches well above its price point.

It spends about three to six months on its fine lees in a mix of stainless steel and cement vats. That time in cement is key; it gives the wine a rounded, slightly creamy mid-palate that balances out the high-toned acidity.
