Gaston Chiquet Champagne Brut Rose Premier Cru NV
$60.00
Gaston Chiquet has been tilling the soils of the Vallée de la Marne since 1746, and they were among the very first “Grower-Producers”—visionaries who decided to stop selling their grapes to the big houses and start bottling their own liquid gold (or in this case, pink) back in 1919.
This isn’t your average “fruit bomb” Rosé. It is a thoughtful, structured blend of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, sourced entirely from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards. While many producers lean on oak to add weight, the Chiquet family opts for stainless steel to let the purity of their fruit and the chalky terroir of Dizy and Aÿ take center stage.
On the pour, you’ll find a luminous, salmon-pink hue and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is a delightful invitation of wild strawberry, black cherry, and redcurrant, underscored by a sophisticated touch of rhubarb and a whisper of brioche. On the palate, it strikes a perfect balance: it’s fleshy and vinous enough for the dinner table, yet possesses a racy, mineral-driven acidity that keeps it fresh and light on its feet.
