Grattamacco Bolgheri Rosso Superiore 2015

Grattamacco has always been a bit of a pioneer, the second-ever estate in the region (right after Sassicaia) and the first to insist that Sangiovese deserves a seat at the table alongside the heavy-hitting French varietals.

In the 2015 vintage, everything just clicked. It was a “Goldilocks” year—warm and sunny, but with those vital Mediterranean breezes that keep the fruit from getting lazy. This isn’t a wine that just sits there; it vibrates. You’re getting that classic Bolgheri power (thanks to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot), but that 15% splash of Sangiovese provides the lift—a bright, balsamic-tinged acidity that makes the whole thing feel vertical rather than just broad.
