Established in the early 1950s, the Luigi Pira estate spans 12 hectares in the storied commune of Serralunga d’Alba, planted to Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera. For decades, the family sold grapes and bulk wine to local négociants, only recently beginning to age and bottle under their own name. Today, Luigi’s son Giampaolo leads the cellar, while his brother Romolo and father Luigi tend the vines, with holdings in three of Serralunga’s most revered crus: Margheria, Marenca, and Rionda.
Understated yet refined, the 2007 Barolo Vigna Rionda captures the elegance of its terroir with aromas of rose, spice, raspberry, and licorice. Silky, perfumed, and harmonious, it reveals finely knit fruit and a graceful, lingering finish—a true expression of classic Serralunga Barolo.
