Born from a transatlantic infatuation and a deep reverence for botanical tradition, the Mancino Sakura Vermouth is a stunning, limited-edition gem that bridges the gap between the hills of Piedmont and the gardens of Kyoto. Giancarlo Mancino, the visionary bartender-turned-producer, originally crafted this expression for the Mandarin Oriental in Tokyo, and we are thrilled to see its return.
This isn’t your typical bianco or rosso. It’s a “tailored pink” fortified wine, utilizing a base of Italian white grapes—primarily Trebbiano di Romagna—infused with twenty distinct botanicals. The stars of the show are the hand-picked Japanese cherry blossoms (Sakura) and Italian violet petals, which lend the liquid its delicate, ballet-slipper hue and a heady, floral perfume.
With only 4,000 bottles produced annually, this is a seasonal treasure that demands a place on your bar cart. It is exquisite served neat over a large rock with a twist of grapefruit, but it truly shines when used to add a floral, “shibui” elegance to a dry martini or a refreshing spritz.
