Mary Taylor Anjou Blanc 2023

$16.00

If the Loire Valley is a puzzle of terroir, Anjou is the piece that brings it all together. Long a staple of the bustling bistros of Paris, this region produces some of the most versatile and evocative Chenin Blanc on the planet. This particular bottling from Mary Taylor is a tribute to that “somewhereness” we so often talk about.

Fourth-generation winemaker Pascal Biotteau crafts this wine from vineyards situated along an old Roman road, right on the seam where the chalky limestone of “Anjou Blanc” meets the dark, volcanic schist of “Anjou Noir.” It’s a literal middle ground that gives you the best of both worlds: the high-toned energy of the lime and the flinty, mouth-coating richness of the slate.

On the nose, you’ll find honeysuckle, white peach, and a hint of chamomile. The palate is a textural delight—medium-bodied and succulent, with flavors of golden apple and apricot leading into a tangy, salt-flecked mineral finish. It’s dry, precise, and carries that classic Chenin honeyed weight without a drop of residual sugar.
