Maso Poli Pinot Grigio 2023
$23.00
When it comes to Pinot Grigio, the high-altitude slopes of Trentino are where the grape finally stops being just another easy-drinker and starts getting serious.
Maso Poli isn’t your average cooperative churning out liters of porch-pounder. This is a family estate perched on the Pressano hill, an area famous for its Triassic soils (think weathered sandstone and silt). They treat Pinot Grigio with the kind of respect usually reserved for the noble varietals. In fact, they even ferment a portion of this in small oak barrels to give it a little extra shoulder and texture, while the rest stays in stainless steel to keep that Alpine snap.
It’s dry, elegant, and surprisingly medium-bodied, with a beautiful balance between ripe orchard fruit and a stony, mineral finish that just lingers. It’s got enough weight to stand up to a grilled trout or a creamy pasta, but it’s so harmonious you could easily enjoy it on its own while you’re prepping dinner.
If you’re tired of the thin, watery stuff and want a Pinot Grigio that actually tastes like the mountains it came from, this is your bottle. Grab a few—at this price, it’s a textbook example of why we love Northern Italy.
