Mauro Molino Barolo Bricco Luciani 2010
$62.00
Mauro Molino has always had a knack for balancing modern polish with serious site-specificity. Bricco Luciani is effectively the estate’s backyard, sitting right in front of the winery in the Annunziata subzone. In a year like 2010, which gave us incredible structural bones and electric acidity, this wine really sings.
On the palate, it’s remarkably complete. You get the muscularity and power of the vintage, but the tannins are so finely knit and supple that they don’t feel aggressive. There’s a beautiful mineral streak and a hint of sweet spice from the French oak that’s now perfectly integrated.
If you’re looking for a Barolo that captures the elegance of the region without sacrificing an ounce of depth, this is it. It’s in a beautiful spot right now—showing plenty of secondary complexity but still possessing enough vibrant fruit to go for another decade or more.
