The Scinniri (Sicilian for “descend”) is a blend that steps away from the strict “Etna Rosso” rules to allow for a little more hedonism. It’s mostly Nerello Mascalese—the grape that makes Etna the “Burgundy of the Mediterranean”—but it’s bolstered by Cesanese and Petit Verdot. That extra muscle gives it a darker, plusher core than its more ethereal cousins, making it the kind of red you want on the table when the takeout arrives.

It pours a vibrant, translucent ruby. On the nose, it’s classic volcanic soil: smoky, flinty, and full of sun-dried herbs. But then comes the fruit—ripe black cherries, raspberries, and a little plum skin. On the palate, the 2020 is surprisingly supple. You get that signature Etna acidity and a mineral crunch that keeps it fresh, but the tannins are soft and polished. It’s savory, a little salty, and very, very drinkable.
