Puni Sole Bourbon Sherry Cask Whisky 750ml

Situated in the high Alps of South Tyrol, PUNI is making a compelling case for the “Italian Highlands” as a world-class terroir for whisky. Taking its name from a nearby river, this distillery uses locally grown rye, wheat, and malted barley—a “three-malt” mash bill that results in a spirit of incredible depth and character.

The “Sole” expression is named for the sun, a nod to the two critical stages of Sherry production: the drying of the grapes and the traditional solera aging process. This whisky is first matured for two years in first-fill Bourbon barrels from the U.S. before being transferred for another two years into some of the finest Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks from Spain.

The result is a beautifully balanced, radiant malt. On the nose, it opens with bright citrus, blood orange, and warm vanilla. The palate is decadently sweet but never cloying, offering layers of wild honey, creamy walnut, and a hint of spicy oak. Non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV with no added coloring, it’s a sophisticated and approachable dram that bridges the gap between the classic Speyside style and the unique alpine climate of Northern Italy.
