Brighton Liquor brings back the art of the traditional wine shop, offering a thoughtful mix of aged, ready-to-drink cellar releases and everyday favorites—each selected for its quality and the story behind it.

I started at Brighton Liquor in high school, stocking shelves on weekends—and learned more about life there than any classroom could teach. Providing wine for every occasion showed me how it brings people together in both joy and grief. I was lucky to be guided by Bob, who taught me to “taste with your mouth, not your eyes,” a lesson that made me realize great wine doesn’t have to be expensive—maybe that’s why I’m such a sucker for Chianti Classico.
Outside the store, I’m usually with my kids, working on my compost, or getting lost in the woods—and when winter comes, probably rewatching The Wire.

While in college, I started working at what I thought would be a small neighborhood liquor and wine store where my mother shopped. I quickly realized that Brighton Liquor was far more than a corner store—it was one of the premier places to buy wine in Western New York, and Bob was one of the most knowledgeable people I could learn the wine business from.
In the summer, I can be found in the garden pulling weeds and listening to baseball. In the winter, I spend a fair amount of time at local ice rinks with my daughter’s special-needs ice skating group and hockey team.
