The ‘Calderara Sottana’ is effectively the estate’s “Grand Cru.” It comes from a vineyard so rocky you’d think nothing could grow there—just a sea of black volcanic stones that soak up the Sicilian sun and radiate that heat back to the vines at night.

In a vintage like 2023, this wine is absolutely humming with energy. It’s a quietly powerful bottle that isn’t trying to impress you with oak or weight. It’s transparent, mineral-driven, and incredibly precise. The tannins are fine-grained and sophisticated, framing a core of blood orange and sour cherry that feels wildly alive.

We like to think of this one as a top-tier Pinot Noir but with more grip.
