Vincent & Sophie Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Embrazees 2022

This site sits right on the border of Santenay, tucked away on a slope that catches just the right amount of sun to give the fruit a little extra oomph without losing that electric Chassagne energy. Located on the southern edge of the village near the Santenay border, Les Embrazées is a bit of an insider’s site. It sits on a slope of red, pebbly soil over limestone, which always seems to gift the wine a specific kind of lift. If Morgeot is the broad-shouldered athlete of Chassagne, Embrazées is the dancer—all grace, energy, and precision.

In a vintage like 2022, which gave us plenty of sunshine and generosity, the Moreys have managed to bottle something that feels both sun-kissed and totally sophisticated. It’s rare to find a Premier Cru that is this approachable in its youth while still having the bones to go 10 years in the cellar. It’s a wine of “great delicacy”—well-rounded, elegant, and frankly, a bit of a steal for this level of pedigree.
