Alvaro Palacios Finca Dofi 2016

The 2016 vintage in Priorat is widely regarded as a triumph, marked by a slightly cooler growing season that yielded wines of remarkable freshness, vibrant acidity, and precision.
The blend is overwhelmingly Garnacha (Grenache), rounded out with just a tiny touch of Cariñena and local white varieties–all sourced from Palacios’s own breathtaking 10-hectare estate vineyard in the village of Gratallop. He vinifies this with indigenous yeasts and ages it in large French oak foudres, choosing to let the pristine fruit and the intense minerality of the slate speak for themselves rather than masking them in heavy, new wood.
Right now, this wine is entering a beautiful sweet spot. Thanks to that vibrant 2016 acidity, it has shed its youthful tightly-wound grip and is showing an incredibly elegant, seamless texture, though it easily has the structure to cellar for another decade.
