Don’t let the name fool you. While labeled as Volnay, the “Santenots” vineyard actually sits just across the border in Meursault. When planted with Pinot Noir, it takes on the Volnay appellation, offering a fascinating hybrid of Meursault’s structural power and Volnay’s signature elegance.

Ampeau is a bit of a time capsule. In an era of “drink-it-now” Burgundy, this is a rare opportunity to experience a premier cru with significant bottle age without having to own a cellar yourself. It’s soulful, unmanipulated, and peak Old School Burgundy.
