Joseph Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny Aux Beaux Bruns 1er Cru 2013
$140.00
2013 was a “vigneron’s year.” It wasn’t a year that handed out greatness for free; it required hard work in the vines and a gentle hand in the cellar. The result is a vintage defined by high-toned aromatics, bright acidity, and a transparent expression of terroir. Now, with over a decade of bottle age, this wine has moved past its youthful tension and into a sweet spot of secondary complexity.
Located on the “Flagey” side of the village, Aux Beaux Bruns sits on the lower part of the slope. The soils here are a bit deeper and richer in clay than the higher-altitude spots, which gives the wine a glorious, velvety mid-palate. In the world of Chambolle, where “lacy” and “ethereal” are the buzzwords, Beaux Bruns adds a layer of succulent fruit and structural “oomph” that makes it incredibly satisfying.
This is intellectual Burgundy that doesn’t forget to be delicious–if you’re looking for a Premier Cru that shows exactly why Chambolle is the most seductive village in the world, this 2013 is a stellar place to start.
