Domaine Faiveley Nuits-St-Georges Damode 2011
$122.50
Domaine Faiveley, founded in 1825 and now in its seventh generation of family ownership, is a cornerstone of Burgundy. Under the guidance of Erwan Faiveley, the estate has modernised its approach while maintaining an unwavering commitment to the diverse terroirs of the Côte d’Or. Their cellars in Nuits-St.-Georges are the birthplace of wines that marry structural power with an increasingly refined elegance.
The “Les Damodes” vineyard sits at the northern edge of Nuits-St.-Georges, directly bordering the prestigious Vosne-Romanée. The name itself is steeped in local lore, whispered to refer to the “Druidesses” who once inhabited this rocky, high-altitude site. Because of its proximity to Vosne, this 1er Cru often displays silky tannins and floral lift—that contrasts with the brawnier, more rustic reputation of southern Nuits-St.-Georges.
The 2011 vintage was a year that rewarded the patient. After a warm spring and a cool, rainy summer, the resulting wines are characterized by their freshness, vibrant acidity, and crunchy red fruit profiles.
This is a classic food wine. Its bright acidity and savory depth make it an ideal companion for earthy dishes.
